Sporting the Flying Kangaroo livery of the 1970s and painted as such to commemorate the 70th anniversary of their 'Roo' logo. This first retrojet for QF bears the name of James Strong, CEO of the airline between 1993 and 2001, who had died a few months before the delivery of this jet.

The aircraft was used for PR duties at airshows and during late 2017 carried an additional decal (port side only) promoting the "Qantas and Fizty & Wippa Take You to Movie World" competition in cooperation with Nova 96.9 radio.
